[ Nate turns, and reaches to grab hold of him and pull him close even as Nick is reaching for him. He kisses him just as urgently, face tipping down as he leans into him. One arm wraps around him and the other hand pushes up into his hair.

[ like it's some kind of revelation, like they don't say it to each other almost every time they speak. nick says it like it's a revelation, half-mumbled into the kiss that he has no real intention of pulling away from. ]

Every time I think I can't love you more, you just--you say shit like that, and...I love you.

[ Nate smiles, and it turns into a soft laugh against Nick's neck. He kisses his jaw, and then wraps him up into a very tight hug. ]

It's just stuff that's true. You don't know how much...the feel of you just makes me feel better. Like it's easier to breathe around you.

[ nick's arms wind around nate's neck, latched on just as tight as he huffs out a soft exhale. the thing is, he knows it's true, he can feel how true it is. there's that soft background hum that nick knows to be nate, always there, and nick knows exactly how something seems to unknot when they're together. because it's exactly the same for him. he feels it now, that faint relief that happens just by virtue of being near nate. ]

I always figured...I don't know, that there'd always be something I had to hide. Some part of me, I'm not--I'm not easy to love, but you just...you make it look so easy, Nate.

[ Nate frowns a little, leaning back enough so he can see Nick's eyes. ]

You're so easy to love. I did it without even meaning to.

[ Then he reaches around to snag Nick's hand, and brings it up so he can kiss his scarred palm just like he said he would. He lays his cheek against that palm, after. ]

Everything about you is just...like you're exactly what I need. I'm happy just being around you.

I think you're a little biased.

[ but he smiles all the same, wiggling his fingers gently in nate's grip. not to work it free, just to feel his hand move lightly against nate's cheek. ]

I've never felt like too much for you, y'know? Like, God, I worry about what everyone thinks about me so much, all of the time, I want to be the perfect person for everyone, all of the time. But you...I don't know. I always felt like I could just be me. I feel like I know who 'me' is, when I'm with you.

[ The perfect person for everyone. Yeah, Nate can see that. He spends a lot of time in the same space as Nick, and he sees slight differences depending on who he's with. It seems pretty normal to him, a way of just trying to make a positive impression on everyone. He can see what underlies it now, though.

He turns his face to kiss that palm again. ]

Because you are perfect for me. You don't have to try. You're just really...cute, and funny, and it's like you just know exactly what to say to me all the time. Like you talk about fucking Twilight and it makes me want to kiss you, I don't even know why. It's just because it's you.

It's because you love Twilight, I knew it.

[ he can't help but grin, even as he watches nate press another kiss onto the ugly scars that he never quite figured out how to feel about, before now. moments like this, nick can't help but think that he doesn't mind it too much, as it turns out. ]

You love all of me. I know you do, I can feel it. You've never made me feel weird, or stupid, or...wrong. You're just..perfect. You're perfect for me, too.

[ It seems impossible that they only know each other because they're here. They're so well matched, it's stupid. They just work, in every way. ]

You know I've got like...all this tangle, of shit, in my head, and I'm always scared of putting people off with it. I've chased plenty of them away.

But never you. You feel all of that in me all the time, and it's never made you want to run. Not even once.

[ it's always been as simple as that. even at the worst moments, when grief has bled through and fed back between them to the point of being overwhelming, nick has never once regret their link. how could he ever, when it's given them moments like this, where nick can feel all of nate's love as clearly and as easily as he feels his own?

nick tips his head forward, eyes closed as he leans fully into nate and just feels it for a moment. all of that love and affection, the trust there. it's overwhelming too, in its own way. in the best way, probably. ]

Every part of you is perfect. Even the tangled parts, especially the tangled parts. I've never wanted to let someone into my head, you know. But you...I want all of you. I want you to have all of me.

[ It's strange how, even when Nick's touching him as much as he is now, Nate still wants more. It's like the more they get their hands on each other, the more they try. He would love to get closer, even with Nick's arms around him and their bodies curving in, and their foreheads against each other.

Nate can feel Nick's breath on his lips and it makes him smile. ]

When you were in my head before, it felt nice. It was comfortable, even though I wasn't properly me. It felt right that you were there. You were the most right thing about it.

[ He closes his eyes. ]
