( it's not that nick doesn't trust ragnor as such, so much as anything even remotely connected to magnus and the incident has rapidly soured over the last couple of days. but he's doing a great tough guy act and he doesn't intent to stop now. even if it's not very good. even if it's mostly just nick being very stressed out and defensive. )

( it's an attempt at a joke, but it falls miserably flat. the idea of showing anyone the mark magically scarred into his skin makes nick's stomach turn, but he wants to be rid of it more. he bites his tongue, hard as it is, and yanks up the edge of his shirt, peels off the top edge of the bandage stuck on just to keep the thing covered.

it's very clearly magnus, the cursive 'M' branded into the skin just above his hipbone. in any other circumstance it might even be beautiful, but as it stands, nick can't even look at it. )

[ his expression remains neutral and he doesn't comment, just starts working on it— his magic is less flashy than magnus', a muted green smoke. he tries to undo magnus' magic, frowns when that proves impossible, then tries to heal the skin, which is also impossible.

then he casts a glamour over it, which seems to work to ragnor's surprise. ]

( nick holds his breath as ragnor works, and for a brief moment he really thinks that it’s going to work. that would be too simple though, and really he shouldn’t have expected any different. he doesn’t want to look disappointed, doesn’t want someone to see that, but it’s written all over his face all the same. nick never was a very good liar. )

The city had just drugged him when you met up. It doesn't change what happened, but Magnus would have never without the drug's influence.

Yes, he had a citation for, as I understand it, sleeping with other Dominants. He had never been drugged like that before and was not expecting the effects.

[ Magnus would probably not like him being so free with the information, but Ragnor will answer Nick's questions as thoroughly as he can. ]

We're putting measures in place to try to prevent anything like this from happening again.

( nick would very much like to sit down. he was expecting some kind of defence of magnus obviously – why else would he have said what he did, if not needling for an argument – but he wasn't expecting a rebuttal like that.

instead he just tugs all of his layers back into place, arms folded tightly over his chest and hands fidgeting with the sleeves. the idea that they were both thoroughly fucked over in that exchange isn't one that he was expecting to wrestle with, today. )

( forcing someone into doing all of that to another person is a different beast entirely. if nick looks a little pale all of a sudden, it's just because he thinks that he's maybe going to hurl. )

[ he's surprised nick is taking this so well, all things considered. it's a lot to take in and he has every right to be angry, disgusted. ragnor is, he hasn't been in the city for a month yet and the place is already worse than most of the hell dimensions he's been to. ]

( nick doesn’t argue at all, just moves over to the bench in question and drops down heavily. he drops his head down into his hands, staring resolutely at the threadbare patch of grass between his feet and doing some approximation of a breathing exercise — albeit quite poorly.

he could fix the grass. it wouldn’t take much, barely any exertion at all and he could have at least the little circle around him looking green and new again. but what’s the point in creating anything good, in this city? )

I just came over, you know. I’ve spoken to him once, didn’t even hesitate. That was all me, no fucking...magic roofie necessary. How stupid is that?

[ ragnor drinks first. he doesn't know if it'll make nick feel safer but ragnor is a paranoid man, and it would make him feel safer; the tea is regular lavender tea, a bit on the sweeter side. ]

[ since nick hasn't pushed him off, ragnor lets his hand drop on his back a little more firmly. ]

You need to give yourself time to process things. I will stay with you if you want company... and I would advice against it, but if you want to forget, we can discuss it. It is complex magic, but I have experience with it.

[ it's not what he'd advise, trauma can remain buried even after the event that caused it is forgotten. but they can go over the risks later and nick can make an informed decision. ]

( it’s something nick has (unsurprisingly) put a lot of thought into over the last few days, though he’s pretty sure he wouldn’t actually follow through with it. it’s just a nice pipe dream, just wiping the whole horrible incident away and moving on with his life, consequence-free.

he does briefly entertain the thought of just shrugging the hand off, but if he’s honest the simple gesture is more effective than anything he’s attempted at soothing some of that agitated energy. probably because his idea of processing pretty much just involved several healing potions and an all you can smoke magical weed buffet, but still. he laughs, a little wet sounding, and quickly scrubs a hand over his face. )

( he keeps his hand over his face for a moment, because everything happening right now is pushing nick dangerously close to tears and that’s a whole level of mortifying that he’s not willing to cross right now. he heaves out a heavy sigh - it’s all helpful advice, he knows that, but ‘time heals all wounds’ doesn’t change anything now. nick’s always been a bit impatient, why should this be any different? )
