( said very conversationally, of course. nick doesn't really spend very much time around anyone who's just human these days — not intentionally, it just sort of happened that way, but he hasn't really noticed as much until now. of course there's concepts an awful lot like werewolves where he's from, but they're very different kinds of creature. not the kind he'd sit around and smoke weed with, for sure.
he's more focused on the weed anyway though — specifically the effects, and whether or not they're having any. nick leans in closer, looks at reggie with a curious head tilt and— well, he's always kind of happy when he's high, but there's an interesting tug that's not just the usual buzz. there's a surge of feeling that's definitely building, not really directed at reggie, but he is the nearest person right now, so it seems reasonable enough for nick to reach out until he can cup his cheek. )
Really? Cuz there's... [ He pauses, then frowns. ] Actually, I guess there's not that many of 'em around here anymore.
[ Not that there had ever been a lot, but there'd been a decent number at once point at least; six? Seven? Maybe a football team's worth.
Anyway, he does feel something, a restless flutter in his chest and up his spine, although Reggie isn't sure at first if it's the drugs. Probably, is what he's about to think when Nick reaches over to touch Reggie's cheek, but then Reggie raises his gaze to meet Nick's and that flutter repeats itself, a stuttering tremor in his heartbeat that makes his mouth feel suddenly dry.
Maybe, for him too, this feeling would have simply been directed at whichever person happened to be closest to him at the time, but it's only him and Nick here right now, so that's where it concentrates. ]
I... I dunno. [ He swallows, blinking slowly. ] What's it supposed to feel like?
( nick is a touchy deeply type at the best of times, always grabbing hands and touching faces and generally wrangling contact where he can, so it's not especially unusual for him to settle his palm against someone's cheek. his thumb grazes over reggie's cheek where it sits there, and that's not especially unusual for him either. but he doesn't normally feel quite so fond, sweet even, while he's doing it, and nick looks very pleased about that, because that's definitely a good sign. )
You know when you meet someone and you guys just...click, right away? Or when you're asleep next to someone and they wake you up with a kiss and you're just like....head over fucking heels?
( nick tilts his head a little as he watches reggie, settling his other hand somewhere along reggie's leg as he watches his reaction. it's all well and good for it to work on nick, but he really needs to see if it has the desired effects in others. )
[ Normally Reggie wouldn't think much of this sort of touch either-- maybe to consider it slightly intimate, depending on the person, but being as physically affectionate as he is, touch alone is rarely enough to fluster Reggie, even the kind of touching that turns him on. The fact that this feels so different is unusual, but he can't quite turn his feelings over in a way that clarifies why.
Nick's words help, but even then, he isn't sure how much he's registering properly, distracted by Nick's eyes, the planes of his face. ]
Uh... yeah, [ he says after perhaps too long a beat, drawing back a little. Breaking eye contact. ] I think so. Maybe. Yeah. So that's... does that mean it's working?
